I hate instant coffee! If there is one thing I don’t like about camping, it’s the fact that brewing a quality cup of coffee can be challenging at best. I never realized how much I took my cheap $20 coffee pot for granted until I tried making coffee without electricity!
After another failed attempt to brew an acceptable cup of coffee on last year’s fishing trip, I vowed to bring energy drinks on future trips to satisfy my craving for caffeine.
Then a friend brought along one of Coleman’s new Camping Coffee Potson this year’s camping and fishing trip. I couldn’t believe what I saw!
The Coleman Camping Coffeemaker looked exactly like a conventional electric drip coffee pot only it was designed to sit on top of a Coleman Two-Burner Propane Stove
(among other brands). Instead of using electricity, heat from the stove would provide the energy to convert the water to steam and drip into the filter basket.
I woke up the next morning to the familiar smell of freshly brewing coffee. The coffee maker had been fired up and within about 15 minutes there was a full of carafe of freshly brewed goodness just like home!
The Coleman Coffeemaker weighs about 6 pounds. It’s weight, and the fact that the carafe is made of glass makes packing it into remote location unpractical. On the other hand, if you love good coffee and are able to drive into your campsite (or access it by boat), I highly recommend bringing along this convenient piece of equipment.

I agree completely with you. Without that cup of coffee, everything looks out of place..!!
Why not just use a old fashion metal percolator, it is light, if not fragile like the glass carafes and the coffee tastes great.

Hi Robin!
Percolators are a decent alternative, but I promise you will not be dissapointed with a “drip” style that runs off your stove. Besides, with 8-10 of us camping on any particular trip, there would be a lot of ansey people around a perculator waiting for all the cups of coffee to cycle through the perk!
